Limited screen size, restricted input capabilities, and different needs resulting from the mobile0 context appear to be the biggest challenges in the development of future services and applications for mobile multimedia. For example, initial studies with the usage of mobile video and TV suggest that in a mobile context, users want to interact and more actively deal with the content. For this reason, we started working on better interfaces and techniques to search and browse video data on handheld devices. We developed several interfaces enabling users to interactively skim a video at different levels of granularity.
